Regional Māori Health Services (RHMS) is committed to ensuring the best health outcomes for all people within the area 'Mai ngā Kuri a Whārei ki Tihirau' from Bowentown to the East Cape. Nurses play an integral part in reaching the aims that RMHS has for the 18 iwi of this rohe (area), and maintaining and developing Māori nurses with Maori competencies which include assisting with their search for their cultural identity as we acknowledge the importance this holds and Non Maori nurse with their awareness of Maori Health concepts.

RMHS has shown a longstanding commitment to the professional development of Māori Nurses, with most Māori nurses having achieved postgraduate qualifications.
